The following
painting was part of a body of work I developed for Visual Arts for my HSC
practical component. The body of work involved five oil on canvas pieces and
three charcoal. The mixed media artworks told a story about Identity. Out of the body of work I would have to say that this painting in particular is my favourite because it emphasises a lot of texture even though it is quite distant.
Great piece of Architecture: Therme Vals Switzerland
Vals thermal baths were inspired by the land formations of the town itself and
the entire mass of the thermal bath is made of stone. The underground bath unveils dark rooms, shadows, natural light slicing through ceiling openings and rooms leading to other rooms with the sound of the water echoing into and reflecting off of the stone walls. Each room holds a body of water to bathe in that has a different temperature, audio, and visual atmosphere.
I had an old table at home that had rusted from the external elements and probably painted with paint that wasn't really waterproof or for outdoor use. However, what captured my attention was the beauty of the texture and the layers of paints peeling back from one another creating shadow and showing the colours of various paints and rust underneath.
